Despite the lack of E3 this year, there are many events happening in this year’s Summer of Gaming Festival that led to the announcement of many games, such as the following:
Alaloth: Champion of the four Kingdoms
In this isometric ‘souls’ like action RPG from Gamera Interactive, the player must defeat the evil dark god Alaloth by fighting monsters and uniting the disparate kingdoms. The game will be coming out later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The Almost Gone
Released on 25th June 2020, the player must unravel the mystery of a young girl’s death. The new game from Playdigious will be coming to PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
This new action-adventure game, set in a cyberpunk world, is based on the popular collaborative fictional internet database known as the SCP Foundation, and is developed by ChinaJoy Thinkingstars. This 2.5D game will be coming to PS4 and PC.
Blankos: Block Party
From Mythical (not Mythicality, the Youtube brand stemming from Rhett and Link) comes a vinyl toy trading MMO Party. Follow the link above to sign up for the beta opening this August for PC gamers.
Call of the Sea
First shown at the Xbox Con in May, this game has the player in the role of Norah as she investigates the disappearance of her husband in the South Pacific. Set in the 1930, this horror puzzle game from Raw Fury puts you in a mystery inspired by Lovecraft’s stories. This game is set to release later this year for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
The Captain is Dead
Are you part of a board game club? Have you like my friends and I become fed up with playing D&D? Are you depressed with the untimely death of the SavageBot? Has Discord become discordant with your internet? Well, never fear, this new game from Thunderbox Entertainment brings the board game The Captain is Dead into an online experience. It allows for you to play solo or with 6 other friends. Aliens have attacked the ship, the captain is dead and you have been saddled with the duty of fixing the ship. The game will be released to PCs later this year.
To be released later this year, this platformer from Phobia Game Studios has you play as a monster that escapes confinement, in order to kill and devour those who imprisoned you. Carrion comes to Ps4, Xbox One, PC and Mac.
In this Japanese RPG from Modus Games, you time/travel across three different timelines to stop the Time Express and save the future. The game is coming out on PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC and Stadia on 17th November 2020.
Cygni: All Guns Blazing
Cygni is very obviously inspired by arcade sci-fi shoot-em-ups of old. In Keelworks’ game, you are one of the last human ships trying to escape the planet Cygni. As soon as you leave the planet’s atmosphere, you will have to brave for survive a brutal assault by aliens who have killed the rest of the space force. The game is coming to PC, Mac, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Humanity as we know it has died out, surviving only by putting our brains inside robots. In this RPG shooter, civil war now rages between the robots who want to return to their human bodies and the robots who want to remain robots. A multiplayer mode is now available. V1 Interactive’s game came out on 16th June 2020 for Xbox one, PS4 and PC.
In this colourful side scrolling game from Raconnteur, you play as a dog trying to get home. You sniff and dig and explore the world all in the name of getting home. The game will be coming to PC.
Red Thread Games’ action-adventure game takes you on a road trip across post-apocalypse North America. You play as Pax, an ex-con tasked with delivering a package from California to Nova Scotia. However, you are not alone, as you have a diverse crew to help you survive both the authoritarian Justice and the fanatical Puritans. Expect this game to be released for the PC in 2021.
Get To the Orange Door
In this synthwave Tron-looking FPS from HitCents, you only have one goal: Get to the orange door. This game has already been out on PC for a year, but it was recently announced that it was coming to the Xbox One in 2020.
Set in a cyberpunk society where an apocalyptic event has led to the remnants of humanity living in a single lone tower built by people long ago, the game has you play as a cyber warrior investigating the mystery of how humanity ended up huddling in its last shelter. As a sci-fi cyber-ninja you explore and and fight your way through the city, much like a character in a Dishonored game. This game is coming to all major consoles later in 2020, and was developed by 3D Realms, One More Level, and Slipgate Ironworks.
In this dwarven colony simulator, you manage a colony of dwarves who live in a mine. You explore the mine for new riches and minerals. You use these discoveries to craft new tools and weapons in order to fight your way through the mine and assist in an aboveground war effort against evil. Each dwarf apparently has their own unique personality and goal, and choices that you make can affect your mine. This Warpzone Studios game comes to PC later this year.
This retro-style arcade racing game boasts an animation style that allows you to see the speed and modern drifting compatibility. There are two modes, time trial and grand prix, and 16 different unique stages. This game comes out later this year on all major consoles and PC, and was co-developed by Lucky Mountain Games and Sumo Digital.
Coming out next year, this turn-based strategy game allows you to control and create armies of creatures. You are the master of living ink, leading your army through the pages of history. This includes the art on the ancient mosaic of Egyptian tombs to the Bayeaux tapestry. This game is set to release for PC and is by Yaza Games. At this time of writing, they have reached their stretch goal on Kickstarter and are now set to release the game on Switch too.
When a girl called Kena travels to a distant village, she discovers that the town has been deserted save for the cute balls of fluff known as the rot. She must work alongside the rot to heal the corrupted spirits that dwell in the town. This game by Ember Labs comes out in Autumn Winter this year on the Epic Game Store and PS5.
In this nomadic survival MMO from Donkey crew the Earth has stopped rotating. You are one of the few humans who survived this cataclysm, and to continue living, you must outrun the sun in this Mad Max crossed with Mortal Engines style game. The game was released in March this year for the PC.
Walkabout’s comic-book and platformer fusion game is about an uprising against a 1984-style world and government. It was released on 18th March this year on all major consoles and for the PC.
Maid of Sker
This horror game is set in Wales at Sker house in Bridgend. It claims to be based on the true murder of Elisabeth Williams, a woman who lived and died in the house. However, based on the trailer, it does also seem to draw on other inspirations from the horror game genre. The game was developed by Wales Interactive and will be released on 24th July 2020 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and in October 2020 for Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X.
Morbid The Seven Acolytes
Still Running’s isometric horror-punk souls style action RPG pits you against Lovecraftian horrors. It was released this year on 3th June 2020 for the PC.
In this run-and-gun roguelike game, you are tasked by Hades to infiltrate the Abyss and defeat the new gods. This game is to be released on 14th July by Veewo Games for all major consoles and PC.
In Clever Plays’ co-op espionage game, you and a friend play as an agent and a hacker who must work together to save the world. This game is coming out in 2021 on PC and Ps4.
To be released in December this year, this FPS game has exploring the hostile planet of Enoch and looking for a mysterious signal. This game was developed by Square Enix for all major consoles and PCs.
In this AU world where World War II never really ended and the Nazis destroyed Europe, a twelve-year-old polish boy explores a derelict Nazi war bunker. Each time you play the game will be different, as you can make different choices that can lead to different endings. The game was developed by PolyAmorous for release later this year on PC.
In Team Kill Media’s game, you play as a firefighter who is fighting lovecraftian horrors in a space station with a gun. The game is set to release on Playstation 4 and 5.
Remnant: From the Ashes
A DLC for this game called Subject 2923 was recently announced. The premise of Gunfire Games’ project is set in a post-apocalyptic world where, as in War of the Worlds, the world has been overrun by a mysterious phenomenon called the root. Your objective during the game is to investigate the dreamers who are connected to the root. The DLC will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on 20th August.
Remothered Broken Porcelain
This game is chapter 2 in the Remothered trilogy, and serves as a sequel to 2018’s Broken Porcelain. In Stormwind Games’ latest installment in the series, you play as Jennifer or Celeste Felton, a fifteen-year-old girl who has been kicked out of Flemmington Girls’ Institute, and has taken up occupation in Ashman Inn as a maid to make ends meet. The game is set to release on 25th August 2020 on PC and all major consoles.
This FPS multiplayer will have two game modes: Extraction which has 4v4 gameplay and Wingman which has 2v2 gameplay. The notable thing about this multiplayer game is that it has cross-platform play with PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. It is due out later this year and is being developed by First Watch Games.
iFun4all’s game is a sequel to Serial Cleaner. This stealth game is set in the 1990s, and you play as one of four different professional crime scene cleaners. This game is due out on PC and all major consoles soon.
Sherlock Holmes Chapter 1
Set in the late 19th century, you play as a young Sherlock Holmes in an open-world detective game, as he goes home to the Mediterranean island he grew up on in order to investigate his mother’s death. Frogware stated that the game was set to release in 2021 on PC.
This popular PC and console skateboarding simulator has a new DLC set to release on 7th July. The new levels and maps in the DLC will centre around West Coast American High School. THe game has been developed by Easy Day Studios Pty Ltd.
You play as various members of a spaceship crew as you explore the galaxy, keep your ship in good maintenance, fend off hostile alien boarders, and manage the ship’s crew. Runner Duck’s game is set to release in September this year on all major consoles and PC.
In this co-op party game by suchagamestudio, you play as animals who are stagehands, and the responsibility for making sure that the show goes on is in your hands. The game will be coming out on PC at some point in the near future.
Unbound Worlds Apart
Due to be released later this year, this Metroidvania-style game has you playing as Soli, a person who can conjure magic portals to travel between different realities. This game was developed by Alien Pixel Studios for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
Jason Oda’s action adventure puts you inside the dreams of a coma patient. You must defeat enemies to survive and fight your way out of a coma. This game is out on Xbox and PC.
In inXile Entertainment’s third installment in the top down post-apocalyptic series, you are a desert ranger tasked with rebuilding Colorado. This game is set to release 28th August 2020 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood
You play as Cahal, an eco-warrior werewolf who must return to the pack he’s been banished from to protect it from unforeseen forces. This game by Cyanide will be out later this year for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Dometu’s upcoming sports game has you playing in a top down frisbee game. The game is set to release later this year on Switch, PC and Stadia.
